Even before Christmas, families set up the Neapolitan nativity scene (Presepe), which has a much longer tradition in Naples than the Christmas tree.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Every family has their nativity scene that they decorate themselves,<\/h4>\n<p>and which is being extended each year with several figurines, lights, small fountains, or animals. In the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.portanapoli.com\/en\/naples\/historic-centre-naples\/\">historic centre<\/a>, the street of the nativity scene builders, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.portanapoli.com\/en\/naples\/san-gregorio-armeno-cribs\/\">Via San Gregorio Armeno<\/a>, is especially busy at this time of year. You can find many craftspeople who offer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.portanapoli.com\/en\/naples\/nativity-scenes\/\">nativity scenes<\/a> and figurines in all variations. Sometimes, they even rotate while an integrated music box plays apparently tacky Christmas music. All in all,\u00a0 Christmas in Naples\u00a0isn\u2019t a contemplative or quiet celebration. A player draws numbers from a little basket and tells a funny or exciting story based on the symbols.
