The park of the Villa Comunale offers a fantastic view across the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. But the smaller towns on the Sorrento coast and on the hills are fascinating, as well.

Sant’Agata sui due Golfi (390m above sea level) and Vico Equense are popular destinations for hikers

Since the mid-19th century, visitors come to Sant’Agata to enjoy the healthy climate, beautiful landscape, and the hospitality of the people. Nature lovers like to travel to Vico Equense, whose quarter Ticciano is situated in the midst of green hills high above the sea, and behind which rises the impressive Faito Mountain (1400m). Seaside vacationers, however, prefer the old fishing village Meta di Sorrento because it has the only larger beach of the Sorrento Peninsula.

The tip of the Sorrento peninsula captivates with its vicinity to the beautiful islands of Capri, Ischia, and Procida, the silhouettes of which you can see on a clear day. The islands are quick to reach, and, like Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Amalfi Coast, are ideal destinations for excursions and tours.

Many of the typical products of the Sorrento peninsula are made from the splendid lemons, like for example Limoncello, the delicious lemon liqueur

Among the typical culinary delights are, of course, here as well pizza, Gnocchi alla Sorrentina (gnocchi with mozzarella and tomato sauce au gratin), buffalo mozzarella, which is made into braids, the pear-shaped cheese Provolone del Monaco, and handmade ice cream in numerous flavours.

You can easily reach the Sorrentine Peninsula

Take the regional train Circumvesuviana from the main station in Naples. The ride from Naples takes 1 hour (last stop Sorrento). Among the other stops of the Circumvesuviana are Meta di Sorrento, Piano di Sorrento and Sant’Agnello. From the airport Capodichino in Naples, there is a direct bus connection to Sorrento

The diversified landscape of the Sorrentine Peninsula with its terrace gardens, mountains, and steep cliffs has been attracting visitors from all over the world for 200 years.
